Comprehensive legal framework a must to curb cybercrime

India’s cybercrime rate has surged 125% in a year, with young adults being the primary perpetrators. Nearly all (99%) of financial fraud originates from 20 districts, with six alone accounting for 70%. Despite laws and regulations, the current facilities and structure struggle to keep up with new threats and cyberattacks that have hit major sectors. Authorities argue the need for more forensic labs, a new legal framework, and dedicated cybercrime coordination centers in each state.
